A collection of prominent technology companies, including OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, has committed $500 billion to improve AI infrastructure in the United States. The plan, known as “Stargate,” aims to establish advanced data centers and develop cutting-edge technologies over the next four years, ensuring the United States’ position as a global leader in AI innovation.

“Beginning immediately, Stargate will be building the physical and virtual infrastructure to power the next generation of advancements in AI,” said Trump during the press conference. “This will include the construction of colossal data centers—very, very massive structures.”.

Phase One: $100 billion and ten data centers.

The first phase includes a $100 billion investment to build ten cutting-edge data centers, the first of which is now under construction in Abilene, Texas. Each facility, spanning about 500,000 square feet, will meet the growing demand for AI research and deployment.

“Vital infrastructure,” it is how Oracle’s Larry Ellison referred to these data centers for industry innovation.

Long-Term Plans

By 2028, the initiative plans to scale to 20 strategically located data centers nationwide, which is the time of the projected end of President Donald Trump’s second term. This expansion is expected to generate thousands of jobs and local economies while also addressing growing competition in AI and data infrastructure from countries such as China, where platforms like OCOLO can help bridge the gap between IT buyers and the upcoming wave of innovative data center facilities.

Shaping the Future of AI with Collaborative Effort

“Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, and OpenAI are the key initial technology partners. The buildout is currently underway, starting in Texas, and we are evaluating potential sites across the country for more campuses as we finalize definitive agreements.” OpenAI said in the announcement of The Stargate Project.

OpenAI will be leading AI research, SoftBank will give financial support, and Oracle will use its cloud computing capabilities. This collaboration emphasizes the necessity of coordinated efforts to enhance AI and is consistent with U.S. government aims in this area.

The Stargate effort aims to offer the infrastructure required for AI-driven improvements in fields such as healthcare and autonomous systems. The latter steps involve identifying other sites, starting development, and incorporating AI capabilities into the larger technology ecosystem. This $500 billion commitment represents a watershed moment in the evolution of AI and US technological supremacy.
