OCOLO CEO Tony Rossabi talks data center industry decarbonization in the latest Capacity Magazine!

The OCOLO team is proud to announce that our fearless leader and CEO, Tony Rossabi, was featured in the latest issue of Capacity Magazine, as part of a feature called “Decarbonizing Digital Infrastructure: A New Era for Data Centers.” In the story, along with Chad McCarthy, CTO and co-founder of data center provider nLighten, discuss the ways both nLighten and OCOLO are contributing to efforts to advance decarbonization across the industry.

Tony’s part of the article boils down to two important components of decarbonization built into OCOLO’s business model and infrastructure that align with our values and the long-term sustainability goals we share with the industry.

  1. OCOLO has been deliberate in building a broad range of ESG factors into our search parameters for our online platform designed to connect providers of colocation services and buyers seeking them. Starting their search from their desired point of compliance makes for a much more efficient transaction for both parties.
  2. OCOLO also offers a Bid My Project tool for enterprise customers looking to post their requirements anonymously for bids from a global network of service providers. Again, this narrows the field to providers aligned by ESG practices and creates more efficient and streamlined transactions.

You can read Tony’s comments in the excerpts below:

“OCOLO is more than just a marketplace,” Rossabi explains.
“It’s a tool for driving decarbonisation across the industry. By incorporating ESG [environmental, social and governance] factors into our search and procurement processes, we’re ensuring that sustainability is at the forefront of every transaction.”

OCOLO’s platform allows buyers to specify ESG requirements when selecting a service provider, giving them the power to choose partners that align with their sustainability goals. This focus on transparency and choice is helping to push the industry towards greener practices.

“From our vantage point, we see the immense efforts our 75 service providers are making to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change,” Rossabi says.

“Data centres are innovating rapidly – whether through renewable-energy integration, new cooling techniques or server optimisation – to meet the demands of the AI era while maintaining sustainability commitments.”

One of the most innovative features of the OCOLO platform is the Bid My Project tool, which allows enterprise customers to post their requirements anonymously and receive proposals from a global network of service providers.

This accelerates the procurement process, and encourages competition and innovation among providers, driving the adoption of sustainable practices, Rossabi says.

As always, feel free to contact a member of the OCOLO team with questions or if you want a demo! Tony Rossabi, Sean McCarthy, Cypress Tucker and Karmann Chan have given too many to count by now and, as noted in the article, we already have 70+ providers from all over the US and multiple continents globally signed up with detailed inventory specs and pricing on the OCOLO platform.

This week, Tony is at the #CapacityMediaEuropeConference in London meeting with – and undoubtedly signing – even more providers. If you’re there as well, find him… and grab an OCOLO hat!
