OCOLO’s CEO, Tony Rossabi, is back from Datacloud – a techoraco brand’s Congress 2025 in Cannes, and now that he’s had some time to catch his breath, follow up on his jam-packed event schedule of meetings and absorb all the content that was flying around, here are his top five takeaways:
- The global data center sector shows no sign of slowing down – demand and competition are fierce and growth is hot across the spectrum
- There’s been a clear shift in the global focus since January toward supply chain issues and sourcing – every region and country is grappling with where and how to access the raw materials necessary for growing digital infrastructure
- Need for speed – as demand and competition grow fiercer, so does the need to bring more capacity online faster. That’s a tough challenge for data center service providers.
- Power is more elusive than ever – the need for fast and economical development of alternative energy sources has never been clearer. Traditional power grids are stretched all over the world and utilities are struggling to bring on more capacity. Nuclear energy is at the top of the wish list, since it doesn’t rely on weather conditions like solar and wind do, but it has cost, timing and reputation hurdles to clear. This is one tough nut that everyone will benefit from cracking.
- It takes a village – As Tony reports back: “I’ve never seen this event so packed, and I’ve never seen such a wide variety of attendees – from all countries, all regions and all data center and DC-adjacent equipment and service provider segments.” It’s clear that the advent of automation, AI, HPC and the growing sophistication of technology in general in the operation of data centers and all business operations, have redefined data centers: They are now digital ecosystems, increasingly dependent on off-prem, specialized vendors for the services and expertise they need to meet clients’ growing and more complex power, equipment and technology needs. It’s a big ocean and we can all swim in it.
Tony’s final words: “If you know me, you know I’m an optimistic guy – and I am as excited as I’ve ever been about the growth and prospects for the data center space. I particularly like where OCOLO has placed our bets. We’ve positioned ourselves at the intersection of data, technology and commerce, acting as a conduit between clients and service providers in the vast digital ecosystem of data center services transactions.”
“Attending events like DataCloud Global Congress 2025 and seeing how the audience has grown and evolved over the years is the best reminder for my team and me of the value OCOLO brings: Relationships plus data plus connectivity – it’s a winning combination in this wild and woolly space, and one I have unshakeable confidence in every day. Get to know OCOLO.”
